For years, the Kindergarten Readiness Assessment published by Ready At Five has reflected low kindergarten readiness scores for Head Start children. The accuracy of these scores is called into question due to flaws in the prior care reporting methods. Not to mention, the KRA doesn't account for growth in areas outside of assessment scores.
While we work with the Maryland State Department of Education to fix the prior care reporting methods, we believe it is important that we tell the story of Head Start. We are in the planning stages of developing a Growth Report that will reflect the growth of a child and from the time they enter Head Start until the time they leave.
This Data Managers meeting will mark the beginning of our planning process to develop and publish the Growth Report.
