Early Head Start Director

Family Services Inc.

Position Summary

Provide EHS program leadership to ensure full compliance with federal regulations and effective management and governance systems. Collaborate with Policy Council, governance board, agency leaders and other stakeholders to ensure the program delivers quality services resulting in improved outcomes for children and families. Manage a $2.2 million budget with multiple funding streams and grant requirements. Oversee a staff of 40 and directly supervise key positions.

Assistant Head Start Director

Southern Maryland Tri-County Community Action, Inc.

Position Summary

The Assistant Head Start Director reports directly to the Head Start Director. Exercises delegated functional authority for the Health and Safety Service Area for the Head Start and Early Head Start Programs. This position is responsible for the day-to-day operation of Head Start and Early Head Start programs in the absence of the Head Start Director. The Assistant Head Start Director serves as a Site Coordinator for an Early Head Start or Head Start Center. Work is of a nature that requires extensive coordination, design, independent analysis, good judgment and effective communication among the Family Advocate Team. The Assistant Head Start Director is responsible for developing and monitoring health care services that meet the needs of children and families. This position is responsible for the coordination of food services for all centers in compliance with the Head Start and CACFP Regulations. Responsibilities include the expansion and oversight of childcare services in the region. Developing and monitoring food and nutrition services that meet the needs of children and families are essential aspects of the position.

Male Involvement Specialist

Southern Maryland Tri-County Community Action, Inc.

Position Summary

The Male Involvement Specialist/Family Advocate is responsible for assessments, home visits, advocacy, outreach, recruitment and referrals for families. This position also assists with the case management, training and other services and activities designed for the fathers, significant others or father figures of children involved in the Head Start Birth to Five Program. The Male Involvement Specialist/Family Advocate will work collaboratively with the Male Involvement Coordinator, Family Advocates, management team, and partnerships to ensure optimal father involvement in the lives of the children. This could be recruitment for classes and events sponsored by SMTCCAC as well as within the community. The Parent/Male Involvement Coordinator will work closely with other fatherhood initiatives and programs to help the fathers navigate complex systems that impact children and families. The Male Involvement Specialist/Family Advocate reports directly to the Family Advocate Coordinator.

Education Specialist

Position Summary

The Education Specialist reports directly to the Education Coordinator. The Education Specialist is responsible for the development, training and evaluation of all Teacher Assistants and parents regarding educational programs and curriculum. The Education Specialist is responsible for monitoring CDA and trainings of all Educational staff. Must Assist with the Early Head Start Childcare Partnership. Must have the capacity to offer assistance to teacher assistants in the implementation and adaptation of curricula to the group and individual needs of children in a Head Start and Early Head Start classroom. This employee is responsible for developing, revising, implementing and monitoring written component plans. The Education Specialist will assist in monitoring and coordinating services for Head Start Special Needs students (10% of the total funded enrollment) and students with behavior plans.

Family Advocate I

Position Summary

The Family Advocate I is directly responsible to the Family Advocate Coordinator for providing leadership in implementing and monitoring the ERSEA (eligibility, recruitment, selection, enrollment, and attendance) and Family and Community Partnership services as outlined in the Head Start Performance Standards. These activities will include but not limited to developing plans, recordkeeping systems, and approaches to families.

Locate: Child Care Resource Specialist

Position Summary

 

The LOCATE: Child Care Community Line Resource and Referral Specialist interviews parents and provides them with referrals to child care. This position involves considerable telephone work. We require a minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education or related field, and two years of previous work experience in the child care field.
