2009 Needs Assessment and Strategic Plan

Each year, the Maryland Head Start State Collaboration
Office(MDHSSCO) is mandated to administer a Needs
Assessment of the Head Start Programs in its state.

Through a collaboration with the Maryland Head Start
Association, the Maryland TTA System and Chesapeake
College, an evaluation of the current inter-agency cooperation,
collaboration and working relationships was made through a
survey and various focus groups in Spring of 2009.

What We Do

The Maryland Head Start Association
(MHSA) is a link between local Head Start
Programs and the National Head Start
Association in Alexandria, Virginia.

The MHSA seeks to assist Head Start
programs  through education and training
opportunities; advocating on behalf
of Head Start children and families
across the state of Maryland; and by
educating the community at large on the issues of low-income
children and families and school readiness.

As Association Members, individuals and organizations have
an opportunity to participate in children's advocacy on a
local, regional and national level.
